President Joe Biden welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron to the White House for a state dinner. Macron was to be the guest of honour among about 400 at the White House’s first state dinner in three years. The US president spoke about the ‘historic alliance’ between the two nations. The two leaders vowed to maintain a united front against Russia on Thursday amid growing worries about waning support for Ukraine’s war effort in the U.S. and Europe. There were more than 300 guests from the political, business, and entertainment world. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, US singer-songwriter John Legend and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, and US actress Jennifer Garner and her daughter Violet Affleck were also present for the state dinner. Musician Jon Batiste also performed during a state dinner with President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington.
